Daniela Chiaretti has been a special reporter for Valor Econômico for 18 years. She has covered all the UN climate conferences since 2008, in Poland, some on biodiversity and the environmental conferences of the UN Environment in Kenya. She also covered some IRENA’s assembly in Abu Dhabi on renewables. She lived in Berlin and it was there that she discovered the German green movement and awakened to socio-environmental issues. Daniela has been to the Arctic and Antarctic and to all continents writing environmental stories. She traveled to the Amazon more than 40 times and has written about all the Brazilian biomes and the people who live there. Her areas of interest are the relationships between environmental balance, development and poverty reduction. She tries to offset the greenhouse gas emissions from her trips by writing about everything she sees, the people she meets and the climate challenges.
Daniela has received several awards in her career. One of them was for reporting on the impactos of climate change in the Arctic and the effects of global warming near the North Pole. In 2019 she received the insignia of Chevalier of the National Order of Merit awarded by the French government for recognition of her work. She has served on the editorial board of the Amazon Rainforest Journalism Fund (Amazon RFJ), supported by the Pulitzer Center.
