Taira Pene is a renewable energy engineer and manager with professional experience in the energy access sector and climate change mitigation in Mozambique. Currently, Taira Pene is working at the Foundation for Community Development (FDC) as Off-Grid Energy Investment Officer, on designing and implementing the Off-Grid Energy Grant Facility under the ProEnergia+ projects, called +Energia, which was developed to support expansion of off-grid solar and clean cooking markets in Mozambique. Additionally, Taira was part of the managing team of the Results Based Fund (RBF) called Fund for Sustainable Access to Renewable Energy in Mozambique (FASER) designed to accelerate energy access through solar systems (domestic and for Productive Use) and improved cookstoves, and advocate for private companies and communities’ rights to social and energy justice.

Taira Pene was part of the team that designed the strategy to mainstream climate resilience and disaster risk management into FDC’s development programming and Taira is currently part of the disaster management and resilience building unit set up to implement the strategy.
