Bärbel Freyer

Bärbel has worked for more than 20 years in development cooperation with governments at all levels and with the private sector in Nigeria, Indonesia and Ghana. For the last 10 years, she has concentrated on implementing sustainable projects with business chambers and associations focusing on renewable energy, energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.

As Chief Technical Officer, Bärbel is heading the “Energy Service Centre” at Ghana’s largest private sector Association, the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI-ESC).

Established in 2019, the AGI-ESC team focuses on offering one-stop consultancy services for renewable energy and energy efficiency relating to the adoption of RE/EE among AGI members and the larger Ghanaian industry space. Apart from delivering RE/EE services to commercial and industrial clients, the centre provides market analyses, advocacy activities, and trainings for large electricity consumers and service providers. The centre has developed partnerships with different international and national organizations.

The AGI-ESC team is committed to making the centre profitable and self-sustaining by the end of 2024.
